Your shrimp is export-grade. Your antibiotic protocol is not.
EU and US border authorities reject Indian shrimp loads on antibiotic residue, not on size, colour, or freshness. The rejection happens because the farm used a conventional protocol during the wrong cycle window. Qualigene removes that risk entirely by replacing antibiotic inputs with residue-free alternatives that still control Vibrio, EHP, gut health, and water quality.
Qualigene protocol: zero residue, no compromise on yield.
The cost
What one rejected load costs.
The residue fine isn't the main cost. It's the cascading losses from a single border rejection that take multiple seasons to recover from.
Per-tonne loss on rejected EU load
₹3–6 lakh
Price differential after forced domestic sale of export-grade shrimp
Port demurrage and storage
₹50,000+
Per rejected container held at EU or US port during testing and appeal
Re-certification cost per batch
₹25,000–80,000
Residue testing and compliance documentation per rejected shipment
Buyer relationship loss
1–3 seasons
Time typically lost before an EU/US buyer re-engages after a residue failure
Residue sources
The three molecules EU inspectors find most often.
Oxytetracycline & Enrofloxacin
The two most common reasons for EU border rejections on Indian shrimp. Detection limits are at ppb level. A single cycle of antibiotic use in the wrong week leaves a detectable trace.
Nitrofuran metabolites
Historically banned but still in use on some farms. EU RASFF alerts on Indian shrimp continue to cite nitrofurans. The residue persists in tissue long after treatment.
Chloramphenicol
Zero-tolerance molecule in the EU. No MRL exists. Any detection triggers immediate rejection and mandatory reporting to all EU member states. One positive contaminates a batch.
The protocol
Replace every antibiotic input. Keep disease control.
The Qualigene export protocol maps a replacement for every antibiotic application point in the conventional shrimp culture cycle, without leaving a gap in disease management.
Replace Vibrio control antibiotics
Lytic bacteriophages eliminate pathogenic Vibrio spp. with strain-specific precision: no residue pathway, no antibiotic resistance generation, compatible with pond probiotics.
Control EHP without antibiotics
EHP is a microsporidian parasite. Antibiotics do nothing against it. Farms often add oxytetracycline expecting relief and get residue without any disease control benefit.
Stabilise pond microbiome
Six-strain Bacillus probiotic suppresses Vibrio at colonisation sites and reduces ammonia load, eliminating the trigger conditions that historically prompted antibiotic application.
Manage white gut without gut antibiotics
Enzymatic complex, high-strength probiotics, and immunomodulators handle white gut without the oxytetracycline or metronidazole applications that leave detectable residue.
After the switch
What changes when you run a Qualigene cycle.
- Zero antibiotic inputs across the culture cycle
- Residue-free harvest verified by existing MPEDA/NACA testing
- EU and US import documentation without residue declarations
- Vibrio, EHP, and gut health managed. Disease control maintained.
- Buyer audits pass without farm-level corrective action plans
- cGMP/HACCP/ISO manufacturer documentation available for supply chain due diligence
Manufacturer credentials
Documentation your buyer's compliance team already accepts.
Qualigene is cGMP, HACCP, and ISO 9001:2015 certified. Exporters share these certificates during buyer due diligence and EU/US import documentation. No additional manufacturer audit required.
Audit your protocol before the next harvest.
Share your current disease control inputs. The Qualigene field team will map the residue risk points in your cycle and recommend the exact replacement protocol, without disrupting your yield or harvest timeline.
